How to Change your Password

From the dashboard, select “Profile”. Scroll down to “About Yourself”. Enter your new password in the field provided. The system is set to enforce strong passwords, so be prepared.

Backing up your Database

Prior to making any changes to your site, you should always backup your WordPress database. It is vital that backups be made periodically and always before and/or after making any changes or updates to products or pages.

To backup the database only, follow these simple steps:

  1. Log into your cPanel at HostRocket.
  2. Scroll down to the “Files Section” and click on “Backup”. This will open the Backup page.
  3. Scroll down to “Databases” under “Home Directory”.
  4. Click “lalavan_wp55”. A zipped file name “lalavan_wp55.sql.gz” will be downloaded to your computer.

Rename the downloaded file to include the creation date. For example “lalavan_wp55_yyyymmdd.sql.gz” where yyyymmdd stands for year, month and day. Store a copy on you computer. As an added precaution, you should copy the file to DVD or CD.

To restore the database, on the same Backup page, select “Restore a MySQL Database” option under Home Directory. Locate the backup file on your computer or from a backup CD/DVD. Then click “Upload”.

Performing a full system backup or restore may be initiated from the Backup page. Click on “Download or Generate a Full Website Backup” under Full Backup. A copy of the downloaded file should be stored off-site. Be aware that this action creates an archive file. You cannot restore full backups through your cPanel interface.

Managing Images

Optimize Your Product Images

To reduce loading time for image files when browsing a Web site, they should always be optimized to make the files as small as possible. Photographic images on your Web site were created and optimized using Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is a powerful but expensive digital image-manipulating software application. Fortunately, there are a number of free or inexpensive applications on the Web that you may use. Below are links to some of the more popular ones.

Uploading New Images

When uploading new product images, there are two fields that should always be filled in: they are “Title” and “Alt Text”. If you wish to edit the meta data for an image, it may be done from the product page or via the Media tab on the WordPress dashboard.
